Seedsigner+ is now available in the store

More convenience for secure Bitcoin self-custody

The new SeedSigner+ makes an already exciting concept even more practical for everyday use: securely storing Bitcoin yourself without having to blindly trust a centralized hardware wallet. The SeedSigner has always stood for transparency, offline security, and maximum control over your own keys. The new Plus version now includes several practical improvements that are immediately noticeable, especially during daily use.

The most noticeable new feature is the larger display. Anyone who has ever tried to work with QR codes, transaction details, or lengthy menus on small screens knows that more screen space means fewer opportunities for error. When signing Bitcoin transactions, it’s crucial to be able to clearly verify addresses, amounts, and fees. The SeedSigner+’s larger display makes exactly that easier and instills greater confidence at every step.

Another new feature is D-pad navigation. The previous version used a joystick with a built-in trigger function. While this was generally practical, it could sometimes be a bit tricky to use: especially when confirming actions, it wasn’t always easy to hit the trigger precisely without accidentally triggering a different direction. SeedSigner+ has elegantly solved this problem. Navigation is now handled via a classic D-pad, while the trigger or confirmation is executed via a separate button. This makes input errors significantly less likely, and the operation feels clearer, more precise, and more reliable. This is a particularly important advantage when verifying and signing transactions, because every click counts here.

Another important upgrade is the micro SD card slot with a spring-loaded mechanism. The micro SD card plays a central role in the SeedSigner ecosystem, for example when loading software, working with backups, or in certain workflows. The spring-loaded slot makes inserting and removing the card much easier. This may sound like a small detail, but it greatly improves usability in everyday use.

The SeedSigner+ uses a modern USB-C port for power. It’s convenient, durable, and up-to-date. Since the SeedSigner typically operates without a permanently stored seed phrase and is only turned on when needed, USB-C fits the concept perfectly: plug in, start up, verify the transaction, sign it, and unplug.

The key principle remains the same: SeedSigner is an air-gapped signing solution. This means that private keys are not transferred to a computer via USB, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi. Instead, transactions are typically exchanged via QR code. A wallet app creates a so-called PSBT, or partially signed Bitcoin transaction. The SeedSigner+ scans this, displays the details, and signs it offline. The signed transaction is then returned as a QR code.

Another major advantage is transparency. SeedSigner originated from the open-source and DIY Bitcoin community. Users can better understand the hardware, software, and how it works compared to many proprietary products. Additionally, the device typically does not store the seed phrase permanently. The seed is restored as needed from a backup, such as a seed phrase or other supported methods. This reduces the risk that a stolen device could grant direct access to the Bitcoin.

The SeedSigner+ is designed for anyone who takes Bitcoin self-custody seriously: from advanced beginners to experienced Bitcoin users. The larger display, D-pad controls, improved microSD slot, and USB-C port make the device significantly more user-friendly without compromising its original security philosophy.

In short: The SeedSigner+ isn’t just a lifestyle gadget—it’s a tool for financial independence. For those who truly want to take control of their own Bitcoin, this is a well-designed, transparent, and user-friendly evolution of a proven concept.
